Martin Ball is the Chair of the Friends of Down Lane Park. He has been instrumental in bringing a higher level of residential involvement in the park and is currently spearheading the park's regeneration; fighting the threat of new housing being built over the park's southern tip and securing funding for a new childrens' play area there.
